SUMMARY:Queer Self Care
DESCRIPTION:“Queer Self-Care” is a 90 minute online workshop designed for the LGBTQIA+ community in Madison County. This experiential workshop seeks to provide a space for LGBTQIA+ participants to explore the intersections of activism and self-care\, particularly in these current times of media overwhelm/burnout. Through reflective exercises\, discussions\, and gentle theatre games\, we will explore how to find the balance between engaging with political and community responses and maintaining personal health and wellbeing. \nKerr Mesner\, Ph.D. is a consultant\, facilitator\, and educator\, and the Principal Consultant of Heart Story Consulting. Dr. Mesner is also a queer/transgender scholar\, performing artist\, and activist. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia\, and taught for several years in Education and Women’s/Trans/Queer Studies. Through his company Heart Story Consulting\, he supports schools\, higher ed institutions\, and non-profits\, in creating spaces that honor diversity\, with a particular focus on the work of celebrating gender and sexual diversity.
