Gaps in addressing the needs of people living with HIV in New York for employment-related information, services, and resources can be reduced through a combination of programs that may be HIV-specific, disability-focused, or within the broader workforce development services system. The programs of the New York State HIV Employment Initiative will be highlighted. The services available statewide of ACCES-VR, the Ticket to Work Program, the New York State Career Centers of the American Job Centers system, the HIV- specific Benefits Counseling Project, and Legal and Supportive Services for Individuals and Families Living with HIV/AIDS (LASSIF) will also be presented, with strategies for effectively accessing and utilizing them.
